Ontario to Market Vaping
While the Ontario government pulled the vaping regulations that were set to be put in place in July, their Bill 36 - the legislation for cannabis in the province - has enabled stores and gas stations to promote vaping products so long as it falls under the restrictions put in place by the federal governments' legislation for tobacco products.
The federal restrictions include, but aren't limited to;
- Graphics or images that appeal to youth
- Colours that appeal to youth
- Branding sponsors
While these stores cannot display e-cigarettes to the public, the promotional materials will still be open to view.
It seems that vaping is stuck between the cannabis and tobacco industry!
The majority of vapers don't use cannabis, and even more of them switched to vaping to move away from tobacco - so, why do the "people at the top" believe it's best to control it under the regulations of both?
For the vaping community, this could mean a backlash if Big Tobacco and Juul start pushing their HnB and Pod campaigns. But hopefully, it won't come to that!
Sometimes it's the people in our lives that influence the paths we take. Some of those paths are not the best, but they all lead us to the place we are today!
Here is Jessika's story on how she ended up switching...
"One word: Ryan. Throughout my life I’ve had my fair share of bad relationships. Ups and downs, sadness and tears. But ultimately heartbreak, once I came to the realization that none of those people ever cared about me, my health and my well being.
They were the ones that got me started smoking because it was something that they did, and they usually didn’t have the money to pay for it by themselves - that’s where I came in.
But once I met Ryan everything changed, I had someone that put me first and truly cared for me. He bought me my first vape about a year ago and told me that loved me and wanted us to grow old together. How could I have a long healthy life with this wonderful person?
One answer: Quit smoking - which is what I did. I began using my vape regularly and eventually did not crave cigarettes anymore."
If you have a couple of minutes to spare, this video shows another "lung" experiment, displaying what happens with vapor inhalation after a month.
These experiments aren't exactly worthy of being in a scientific journal, but they're always fascinating to see!
